Is this e-vignette officially valid?
Yes. It's a genuine digital road-use permit, checked against your licence plate the same way a physical sticker would be. You don't need anything on your windscreen — the registration system does the checking.
How quickly is the vignette valid?
It depends on when you set it to start. Choose “today” and it's active right after payment; pick a future date and it activates automatically at midnight on that day.
Does the vignette cover Brenner, Arlberg or Tauern?
The standard e-vignette covers Austria's motorway network, but Brenner, Arlberg and the Tauern tunnel each carry an extra toll on top of it. You'll need to pay those separately at the toll point or via their own online system.
What if I enter my licence plate incorrectly?
Contact support as soon as you notice — a plate can usually be corrected within a short window after purchase. Once the vignette is active, changes aren't guaranteed, so it's worth checking the plate again before you pay.
Who needs a vignette?
Anyone driving on the country's toll motorways and expressways, whether it's your own car, a rental, or a motorcycle. If your route stays on regular roads only, you don't need one.
What does driving without a vignette cost?
Getting caught without one means an on-the-spot fine, and it's usually far more than the price of the vignette itself. Enforcement is automatic — cameras read plates, so there's no way to argue you “just forgot”.
How do I receive my vignette?
By email, right after payment — a PDF with your confirmation and vignette details. Keep a copy on your phone or print it; some checks ask you to show it.
